I went on a solo retreat this weekend to clarify goals for my life, and strategize how to achieve them. I’m planning to do a retreat one day each month to evaluate and strategize how to get closer to who I want to be, and what I want to do.
I decided I want to live an extra-ordinary life– choosing to react to whatever comes across my plate in more creative and beautiful ways than our culture typically expects. I just want to live like that.
But when I asked myself why I want to do that, I came upon an idea that I really like.
I want to be like the kid who when his dad takes him to the beach and looks away for a moment and then back to him, the kid has built a phenomenal sand castle. He’s done it just because he wants to see the smile on his dad’s face and say, “look at what I did with what you’ve given me.”
I mean do you see what I mean? Wouldn't it be awesome to take whatever gift, talent or situation (good or bad) and strive to make something really impressive from it? And do it because we want to bring joy to our God for all the beautiful things he’s given us.
And we each have our own way of doing this. The thing that matters is that we take what He has given us (good or bad) and strive to make something beautiful with it.
Here is a pic from my first retreat! If you want the document I made to track my daily goals let me know!
