Imposter Desires

It would be good if I were able to figure out, among the things I desire, which things I want because it’s my natural desire, and which things because I see other people desire them.

Of the things that I like, do I like them because they are naturally good, and are particularly appropriate for my life? Or do I convince myself I like them because people I think are cool like them?

How big my house should be. The sexiness of a certain car. Is my hobby cool enough? Is my job prestigious enough? Do I even like beer? And do I actually like PBR? How often do I reach for something, simply because they think it’s cool.

(Here’s a blog at SmartMoneyNation by my friend Curtis who really pointed out how the wrong desires can lead us astray financially)
